Summer Readings: Podcast Plays (Radiolab Edition)

Sundays, BEGINING AUGUST 13TH we're bringing you 3 DIFFERENT, ALL-NEW PROGRAMS of short plays inspired by episodes of Radiolab.

Last year we asked playwrights to take inspiration from their favorite podcast episodes to create new 10-minute plays written specifically for our annual summer reading series. This season, we're delving even deeper into the potential intersection of audio storytelling and stage performance by narrowing the focus of inspiration to a single podcast: Radiolab.

Core Artist Ensemble aspires to create work that explores the mysteries of the universe and the curiosities of the human experience, and Radiolab's non-fiction approach to these themes has consistently provoked our imaginations for fictional content and storytelling. If you're not already familiar with this fantastic podcast, join our mailing list or Facebook group to get links to all the episodes that inspired each week's plays.

Week 1 play by: Tessa Borbridge, Melinda Buckley,  Sander Gusinow,  John Levine, and Kathy Rucker

Week 2 plays by: Rob Ackerman, Jane Elias, Holly Hepp-Galvan, Steven Korbar, Michael C. O'Day, and Ron Palais

Week 3 plays by: Jacob Juntunen, Samuel Kahler, David Meyers, Ron Palais, Jacob Marx Rice, and Dean Imperial

4th Annual Summer Readings Series

Core Artist Ensemble invites you to a brand-new season of short play readings by some of our favorite emerging and established playwrights.

This year, for the first time ever, we'll be presenting 26 plays all on one theme, all written especially for Core. The prompt for this year's reading series was to take inspiration from the storytelling of another medium we find to be endlessly thought provoking: podcasts.

EVERY SUNDAY IN AUGUST we're bringing you a DIFFERENT, ALL-NEW PROGRAM of short plays inspired by the writers' favorite podcast episodes.
